Furthermore, the third goal involves achieving Palestinian unity through a national dialogue intended to reform key Palestinian institutions, including the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).
Al-Hayya also stressed the importance of strengthening relations with Arab and Muslim nations, urging these countries to implement more tangible measures to increase international pressure on Israel to halt military operations. The final priorities concern the international community and the United Nations, which he called upon to safeguard Palestinians and pursue accountability for alleged war crimes. The appointment of this new Hamas leader replaces Yahya Sinwar, who was killed in an Israeli attack in Rafah in October 2024.
