OFK opposes the proposed municipal tax for cemeteries in Pristina

The Chamber of Pharmacists of Kosovo (OFK) has voiced concerns regarding the recently amended draft of the Regulation on fees, charges, and fines within the capital city. The professional body expressed specific reservations about the provisions outlined for pharmacies within the proposed municipal tax framework. According to reports, the OFK, represented by its President, Kadri Bytyqi, alongside Florina Berisha and Ilir Luzha, participated in a public discussion hosted by the Municipality of Pristina.

During this forum, the chamber formally presented its observations and critiques of the draft legislation. Speaking at the event, Bytyqi stated that the treatment of pharmacies within the draft regulation for municipal taxes was unexpected. He emphasized that the concerns raised by the OFK extend beyond mere financial implications.

While the draft regulation touches upon various charges, such as the proposed €20 entry fee for residents of Pristina, the chamber indicated that its primary worries encompass broader operational and regulatory impacts on the pharmaceutical sector. The OFK maintains that its stance reflects a comprehensive assessment of how the proposed changes might affect the established structure and function of local pharmacies. The chamber advocates for a review of the draft regulations to ensure that the provisions adequately reflect the needs and operational realities of the pharmaceutical community in Pristina.

The body continues to engage with municipal authorities to ensure that the final regulation is both financially sound and professionally equitable for all stakeholders.

  1. This seems like a recurring issue where local regulations negatively impact essential services like pharmacies.
