The Kosovo Clinical and University Hospital Service (SHSKUK) has announced that immediate measures were implemented following concerns raised regarding the quality standards of a specific medicinal product. The investigation centered on “Compound Sodium Lactate Intravenous Infusion BP 500 ml,” a product utilized at the Mitrovica Hospital facility. According to a formal media statement, the necessary actions were initiated after a report submitted by the responsible pharmacist at the “Sami Haxhibeqiri” Regional Hospital pharmacy in Mitrovica.
This report detailed concerns suggesting that the medicinal product in question might not be meeting established product standards. In response to these doubts about the quality of the supply, SHSKUK immediately coordinated with the Ministry of Health (AKPPM) and the Pharmaceutical Inspectorate to conduct a thorough review. As part of the official response, the Pharmaceutical Inspectorate conducted an inspection at the pharmacy on June 17, 2026.
This proactive measure aimed to verify the integrity and adherence to regulatory guidelines concerning the medicinal stock within the Mitrovica area. The collaboration between the hospital service, the Ministry, and the inspectorate underscores the commitment to patient safety and pharmaceutical quality control. The resulting actions are intended to ensure that all medical supplies used across the hospital system meet the required national and international benchmarks.
