The acting Minister of Environment, Fitore Pacolli, reported that the Environmental Inspectorate has suspended operations at seven dairies found to be operating in violation of established legal regulations and environmental standards. Additionally, three other dairy operators were fined 7,000 euros for identified non-compliance issues. Pacolli detailed that these enforcement actions followed comprehensive inspections conducted across several locations, including Gjilan, Han e Elezit, Shtime, Suharekë, Mitrovica, Viti, Lipjan, and Pristina.
According to a statement issued via Facebook, the verification process for the dairies commenced in March. At that time, all relevant operators were granted a 15-day period to demonstrate their adherence to current law and environmental criteria. Approximately 200 dairies submitted documentation, which was subsequently reviewed by an external commission appointed by the Ministry in April.
However, a significant number of these submissions were found to be deficient. The Ministry’s actions underscore a regulatory effort to ensure that the dairy industry operates within established legal frameworks. The suspension of operations and the imposition of fines serve as immediate measures to correct identified violations, ensuring environmental compliance across the sector.
