North Macedonia Reaffirms EU Accession Commitment

Skopje – Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi reiterated North Macedonia’s steadfast commitment to progressing through the European Union accession process on April 17, 2026. Speaking to Anadolu, Gashi emphasized that pursuing EU membership remains central to the country’s reform agenda, driving improvements in the rule of law and the development of stronger institutions. The statement was made as the delegation of the Northern Macedonian Parliament participated in the 152nd session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, taking place in Istanbul from April 15th to 19th, 2026.

Led by Speaker Gashi and including deputies Nikola Micevski, Oliver Spasovski, Bekim Qoku, and Bob, the delegation aimed to engage in international dialogue and promote North Macedonia’s priorities on the global stage. Gashi highlighted the ongoing efforts within the parliament to align national legislation with EU standards. The participation in the Inter-Parliamentary Union underscores North Macedonia’s dedication to fostering collaboration and contributing to the broader European community.
