The Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Prizren has initiated legal proceedings against three individuals suspected of involvement in migrant smuggling. According to reports from Gazeta Express, the charges relate to the illegal transportation of migrants. The investigation focused on an incident near the Vërmica border crossing, specifically at the bridge in the village of Shkozë.
Authorities allege that one of the suspects, identified as S.D., organized and directed the smuggling operation. The group was responsible for moving ten migrants, all of Egyptian nationality, who had crossed the border between Kosovo and Albania without proper authorization. Witness accounts detailed that around 1:50 AM, two other individuals, B.D.
and A.F., were observed stopping a vehicle in the emergency lane of the highway near the Shkozë bridge. At this point, they were reportedly waiting for the migrants. The indictment charges the three men with smuggling migrants, indicating a coordinated effort to facilitate illegal border crossings.
The charges filed by the Basic Prosecutor’s Office underscore the legal action being taken against those involved in such activities.
