The Kosovo Police announced that a joint operational exercise, designated “Golden Sword 2026-1,” took place on February 2 and 3. The training was conducted at the Special Units Camp in Vrellë and involved multiple international and domestic partners, including the Kosovo Security Force (KSF), KFOR, EULEX, and the US Mission. According to a police statement, the primary objective of the exercise was to enhance inter-institutional cooperation and bolster readiness for a coordinated response.
The simulation focused on managing critical incidents and high-risk security situations through joint operational procedures involving various security structures. During the comprehensive exercise, personnel simulated several complex scenarios. These drills included responding to various security threats, procedures for the identification and management of explosive devices, and crowd control measures during violent protests.
Furthermore, participants practiced the utilization of specialized equipment and coordinated personnel evacuation protocols. The participation of international entities, notably KFOR, alongside the local police forces, underscored the commitment to maintaining a unified and highly capable security posture within the region.
