Police take action against drug users; nine people are detained for 24 hours

MPB Macedonia has reported that nine individuals were detained across the country’s territory over the last 24 hours following drug discoveries made during routine checks conducted by law enforcement. The arrests stemmed from various locations, indicating an active effort by the police to interdict illegal substances. In one documented instance, a raid at the Idrizova Fortress resulted in the confiscation of a white powdery substance and tablets from a facility detainee.

Further activity was reported in Skopje, where police officers conducted multiple detentions. On June 29th and 30th, 2026, officers in Skopje detained several individuals, including D.G. (29), V.B.

(30), a 16-year-old from the Skopje area, and S.A. (25), who is a resident of Skopje and originally from Turkey. These individuals were detained after police discovered and confiscated items including white solid substance, marijuana, and a knife.

Additionally, on June 29th, 2026, at approximately 4:00 PM, an inspection took place at the Correctional-Rehabilitation Institution Idrizova Fortress. During the check of a detainee, M.A. (53) from Skopje, authorities made further seizures.

These reported incidents highlight the ongoing vigilance of the police force. The cumulative seizures across these various locations confirm that the detentions were directly linked to the discovery of illicit materials, reinforcing the sustained efforts by Macedonian authorities to curb drug trafficking within the region.
