Police uncover forest theft case in Kaçanik, three motorcycles confiscated

The Kosovo police conducted operations in the Kaçanik region aimed at protecting local forest resources, during which they addressed an instance of suspected illegal logging. According to official announcements, police units intercepted a pick-up vehicle bearing local license plates. Inside, authorities found a suspect actively cutting wood with a chainsaw and preparing the timber for removal.

A formal case of “Forest Theft” was subsequently initiated under the directive of the state prosecutor. Following questioning, the suspect was released according to standard procedure. While the vehicle was released back to its owner, the chainsaw used in the activity was confiscated by the police.

Furthermore, the police reported identifying two additional pick-up vehicles, also registered locally, during the course of the operation. The drivers associated with these vehicles were found to be in possession of chainsaws. In these separate instances, the vehicles were released, and the chainsaws were confiscated as evidence.

These actions underscore the ongoing efforts by the police to monitor and safeguard the region’s forest areas. The coordinated response highlights the measures taken to deter and investigate potential violations related to the removal of forest materials. The police continue to investigate the full scope of the illegal logging activities uncovered during these patrols.
