Following a recent heatwave, the incidence of open space fires has risen across the area. According to the Crisis Management Center, as of 1:00 PM today, a total of 13 fires have been registered throughout the region. Of these incidents, five remain active, two have been brought under control, and six have been completely extinguished.
The Center provided specific details regarding the ongoing incidents. The five active fires are located in several municipalities. In the Gazi Baba-Tregu i Kvanit Municipality, flames are reportedly engulfing a depot, and low vegetation is also burning within the village of Straçincë.
Additionally, active fires are reported in the Studeniçani Municipality, specifically in the village of Markova Sushicë. Further active sites include the village of Jabllanicë in the Struga Municipality, and the village of Ularcë in the Çeshinova Municipality, where low vegetation is burning. The Crisis Management Center confirmed that the status of the two controlled incidents and the six extinguished fires represents the current operational status of the larger group of registered fires.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation to manage the remaining active fires and prevent further escalation due to dry conditions.
