The Struga Municipality has responded to a criminal investigation involving Mayor Mendi Qyra, dismissing the accusations as politically motivated. In an official statement, the municipality characterized the allegations as a “desperate attempt at political noise.”
The investigation centers around accusations that Qyra lacked the necessary certifications and education. The statement emphasized that appointments within the “Water Supply and Drainage” enterprise were made in accordance with legal regulations, aiming to prevent the collapse of the institution.
The appointment occurred as an urgent measure during a critical juncture. Despite a lack of an English language certificate, the new management team reportedly doubled revenues within three months. The municipality asserts that the company now has new leadership and has achieved positive financial results.
