Kushtrim Gara, the leader of the Government Commissioner’s Unit for Missing Persons, addressed the ongoing efforts to identify remains belonging to missing persons. Gara stated that the recent visit by the families of missing persons, organized under the “Intellectuals Group,” to Kalludër e Vogël in Zubin Potok was a continuous request originating from the affected families. Speaking at an event in “FIVE” in Dukagjin, Gara acknowledged that the current period presents significant emotional difficulty for the families while simultaneously representing a source of hope for identifying their loved ones.
He emphasized his hope that the process of identifying the mortal remains recovered in Kalludër can conclude as soon as possible. According to Gara, these remains may potentially belong to approximately 23 missing persons. The identification efforts involve exhumations conducted in Kalludër and Jabukë.
Following recovery, these mortal remains are being transported to Hanoi for comprehensive DNA testing. Gara confirmed that the requests for these identification procedures have been continuous over the past four weeks. The statements underscore the ongoing commitment of the government unit to the families seeking answers regarding their missing persons.
