In a statement, the Secret Service confirmed that they received reports of gunfire near the park and initiated a thorough investigation, including a search of the park and surrounding areas.
As of Monday morning, no injuries were reported and no suspects were apprehended. Lafayette Park is located directly north of the White House. President Donald Trump is currently in Washington, D.C., and was preparing to host a private Easter dinner at the White House.
The Secret Service stated that operations at the White House remain normal. Enhanced security measures have been implemented. Initial street closures were put in place.
