President Aleksandar Vučić stated on Monday that a “highly destructive explosive material” was discovered during an investigation into threats against natural gas infrastructure near the border with Hungary. Security expert Avni Islami characterized this as another political spectacle by Vučić, asserting that it utilizes a narrative of fear and uncertainty to generate public alarm. “Vučić’s destructive policies towards the Western Balkans are well known, especially towards Kosovo,” he noted.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, an ally of Vučić, has amplified this message, stating that Serbian authorities discovered destructive explosives near critical gas infrastructure connecting Serbia and Hungary.
