Remains of Missing Kosovo Boy, Sinan Dauti, Identified and Buried
The remains of Sinan Dauti, an 8-year-old boy who went missing during the Kosovo War, were buried Saturday at Bregaj cemetery in Upper Prekaz. The interment followed the recent discovery of his remains in the Suhodoll cemetery in Mitrovica. The identification and subsequent burial marks the conclusion of a decades-long search for Sinan Dauti, who was reported missing during the conflict.
According to reports, the young boy sustained severe injuries on April 12, 1999, as a result of an attack by Serbian forces. He succumbed to his wounds two days later in Mitrovica. Minister of Labor, Family and War Valorization, Andin Hoti, attended the ceremony.
Previously, a government commission dedicated to investigating missing persons had confirmed Sinan Dauti’s disappearance during the war. The Dauti family had endured years without information regarding his fate and whereabouts following the conflict. Extensive searches and persistent efforts by the commission led to the identification of his remains.
This development provides a measure of closure for the family after a prolonged period of uncertainty surrounding Sinan’s disappearance during the war.
