Rrahmani: Why was the money divided from the Diocese that refers to Kosovo with “Metohi”, Kurti: It was a Norwegian donation

Kurti Addresses Questions Regarding Rask/Prizren Diocese Funding

Pristina – PDK Deputy Eman Rrahmani raised questions in the Parliament regarding the allocation of funds to the Rask/Prizren Diocese, also known as “Kosovo and Metohia,” a term used by Kosovo. The inquiry centered on the division of financial aid distributed by the Office of the Prime Minister. In 2023, €146,965 was allocated from the Kosovo budget to the diocese.

Rrahmani specifically questioned Prime Minister Albin Kurti about the rationale behind the direct disbursement of funds by the Office of the Prime Minister. Kurti responded that the funds originated as a donation from the Norwegian embassy. He explained that the donation was processed through the Office for Communities, a department within the Office of the Prime Minister.

The Rask/Prizren Diocese represents a significant ecclesiastical entity within Kosovo, and the matter of its funding has been a point of discussion. The Prime Minister’s explanation attributes the financial support to a foreign donation, clarifying the administrative pathway through which it was channeled. Deputy Rrahmani’s questioning highlights ongoing scrutiny regarding the management of public funds and the distribution of resources within the diocese.

  1. This ongoing dispute over funding highlights a lack of transparency and further complicates the already sensitive relationship between Kosovo and Serbia.
