Despite signs of improvement within the labor market in Albania during 2025, data reveals significant challenges for highly educated people seeking employment. According to the INSTAT report, “Labor Market 2025,” a substantial number of university graduates remain unemployed even while actively searching for work. The report specifies that 17,800 individuals with higher education were recorded as unemployed.
Analysis of this group indicates a pronounced concentration of unemployment among younger demographics. Specifically, the 15–24 age bracket accounted for 5,370 of these job seekers, followed by 4,323 in the 25–29 age group. Collectively, those under the age of 30 comprised 9,693 people, representing approximately 55% of all unemployed individuals holding university degrees.
This statistical distribution highlights a persistent hurdle for recent graduates entering the workforce. While the overall labor market shows signs of recovery, the data suggests a disconnect between the educational qualifications of the available workforce and the immediate demands of the job market. The findings underscore that despite national improvements, a significant portion of skilled citizens struggle to transition successfully from academia to stable employment roles.
