Security expert warns: Declarations from Belgrade show that aims against Kosovo continue

Security analyst Avni Islami has provided commentary regarding recent public statements made by Serbian officials, characterizing them as indicative of Belgrade’s consistent and firm position concerning Kosovo. In his assessment, Islami referenced a previous statement by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, dating back approximately seven months. At that time, Vučić reportedly indicated that Serbia awaited more favorable international circumstances before deploying its army into Kosovo.

The expert further noted that Islami observed a connection between these remarks and Vojislav Šešelj, whom he identified as an influence on Vučić’s statements. According to Islami, these public declarations suggest a unified viewpoint across the entirety of the Serbian political spectrum regarding the status of Kosovo. He concluded that both the ruling political party and the opposition maintain a shared stance on the issue.

From a regional security perspective, Islami emphasized the importance of proactive measures for Kosovo. He stressed that for regional stability, Kosovo must continue its efforts to strengthen its institutional and overall capacity. The analyst’s commentary highlights a perceived alignment of political will within Serbia concerning Kosovo, while simultaneously underscoring the necessity for Kosovo to bolster its own standing.
