Security on Albanian beaches remains problematic

Trespassing within designated safety perimeters continues to pose a risk to the lives of tourists along the country’s beaches. Recent incidents highlight this ongoing issue, as exemplified by the discovery of a jet ski within a swimming area in the Gjiri section of Saranda. Similarly, Vlorë Coast Guard patrols located another jet ski in the Gjiri area of Ksamil, indicating a violation of established boating regulations by its operator.

For each infraction, the Vlorë Coast Guard issued a maximum fine of 500,000 lekë. Since the commencement of the tourist season, instances of trespassing in safety perimeters have increased across the southern beaches. The Vlorë Coast Guard has issued fines to ten jet ski operators for violations, with two separate incidents recorded in Durrës and two other instances noted.

These repeated violations underscore a persistent challenge in ensuring the safety of tourists enjoying the coastal areas. Authorities continue to monitor these popular beaches to mitigate risks associated with unauthorized activities near swimming zones. The enforcement actions aim to maintain safety standards and protect the lives of all visitors.
