Serbian students visited Kosovo: They have deceived us, our compatriots have not been oppressed

A group of students from Serbia recently undertook a study visit to Kosovo as part of an initiative titled “Students in Every Village.” The destination has been a subject of considerable discussion within both public opinion and regional media outlets. The findings and subsequent media statements from this expedition have initiated broader discussions concerning perceptions of the current reality in Kosovo, the nature of interethnic relations, and how these complex issues are framed within the political discourse of Serbia. One participant, Mihailo Marković, a law student from Belgrade, shared his reflections following the visit during an appearance on the show “Bez pardona.” Marković noted that the practical, on-the-ground experience had influenced a shift in some of his prior beliefs.

He described the visit as providing profoundly positive experiences, stating that the impressions were “truly beautiful” and the conversations “wonderful.”

The initiative aims to bridge academic study with lived experience, providing a platform for dialogue outside of purely political channels. By engaging directly with the region, the students are contributing to a wider conversation about understanding the nuances of life and community in Kosovo. The reports generated by these students are intended to foster a more multifaceted understanding among the academic community in Serbia regarding the social and cultural dynamics at play in the region.
