The constitutive session of the Kosovo Assembly, which commenced on Friday, was unable to proceed to its scheduled conclusion. The proceedings were interrupted prior to the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speakers of the Assembly. Initially, the Temporary Commission for the Verification of Mandates and Quorum was established as the first item on the agenda.
Following the approval of this commission’s report, the deputies subsequently took their solemn oaths. After the completion of this initial agenda item, the session proceeded to the procedure for electing the Speaker of the Assembly. However, the Vetëvendosje Movement did not put forward a candidate for the presidency.
Meanwhile, the acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, a former leader within the party, requested additional time. This request was made to facilitate consultations and reach a political agreement with the other parliamentary entities concerning the role of the presidency. Due to the lack of a formal proposal for the Speaker of the Assembly, the session could not move forward with the election.
