The Kosova Dairy Industry Association (SHIQK) has expressed significant concern regarding the current condition of the domestic dairy sector. The association warned that escalating import levels and increased price competition pose a substantial threat to local farmers and processors within the industry. In a formal statement, SHIQK highlighted the substantial development of the dairy sector, noting that its growth was achieved through years of private investment, public subsidies, and the dedicated efforts of numerous farmers and processors.
The association stated that the industry had reached a point of viable competitiveness against imported goods. However, SHIQK claims that this progress has been undermined by “a wave of disinformation, unclear interpretations, and measures that severely hit domestic production.”
According to SHIQK, the adverse effects of this situation are already visible within the market, as local products are reportedly losing market share. The association’s concerns underscore a perceived imbalance where domestic producers are struggling against external market pressures and misinformation.
SHIQK continues to advocate for measures that support and stabilize the local dairy sector to ensure the sustainability of Albanian agricultural enterprises.
