Shocking murder of influencer during a TikTok live stream – alleged head of the cartel arrested

Mexican authorities have taken into custody Ramon Angel Alvarez Ayala, a member of the Jalisco New Generation cartel, on suspicion of involvement in the murder of influencer Valeria Marquez and the former mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo. Valeria, who was 23, was killed in May 2025 while live-streaming on TikTok from her beauty salon. Investigations suggest that the motive behind her death stemmed from a prior romantic connection.

According to authorities, Valeria had been in a relationship with Francisco, the son of the man who was arrested. It is alleged that Francisco had repeatedly threatened Valeria, leading him to allegedly instruct her father to arrange an assassination attempt against her. Shortly before the incident, two individuals entered the salon, one of whom was masked and claimed to be a courier delivering an expensive gift.

During the live broadcast, Valeria was observed expressing herself publicly. The details surrounding the events leading to her murder are currently under investigation by Mexican law enforcement. The arrest of Alvarez Ayala is part of a broader investigation into organized crime activities targeting public figures and local officials.
