Siljanovska-Davkova from Sofia: We compete in knowledge and development, not in blockade and division

President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova addressed the Southeast European Cooperation Process (SEECP) Summit in Sofia today, calling for a renewed focus on regional cooperation and adherence to the foundational principles of the initiative established three decades ago. Speaking on the current challenges confronting Southeast Europe, she highlighted significant issues such as substantial youth emigration, aging demographics, economic stagnation, and worsening geopolitical conditions. The President asserted that addressing these complex problems necessitates decisive and responsible leadership, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing common interests and solidarity over fragmented or partial agendas.

Regarding the path toward European Union enlargement, Siljanovska-Davkova stated that progress should be anchored in the Copenhagen criteria. She further indicated that the pace of reform implementation should serve as the primary determinant for advancing the enlargement process. Her address in Sofia underscored a call for renewed multilateral engagement within the region.

The emphasis remains on building a cohesive regional strategy that can effectively navigate contemporary economic and political headwinds. By revisiting the core principles of cooperation, the leadership aims to foster a more unified and resilient trajectory for the countries participating in the SEECP.
