Clinical Biochemistry Doctors Protest Changes to Administrative Guidelines

A group of resident physicians and Clinical Biochemistry specialists in Kosovo have announced a planned protest scheduled for next Friday outside the Ministry of Health. The demonstration aims to oppose amendments to Administrative Directive 02/2026, which was signed by the Minister of Health on May 20, 2026. The primary concern driving the planned protest centers on the decision that permits the inclusion of pharmacists within the specialization field of Clinical Biochemistry.

According to the organizers, this inclusion was implemented without adequate consultation with key professionals and institutions operating within the field. The physicians argue that this process undermines the academic and professional standards that established the specialization. These specialists have expressed apprehension that the proposed modifications could potentially diminish the overall quality of healthcare provided.

They maintain that the integrity of the clinical standards governing biochemistry must be rigorously upheld. The planned demonstration seeks to bring attention to these professional concerns and advocate for a review of the directive’s scope to safeguard established academic benchmarks.
