Prosecutor’s File: How the Suspected Kosovar Drug Trafficking Network Operated

Five individuals were arrested in Kosovo on June 9 following an international police operation targeting a sophisticated drug trafficking network. Authorities suspect the arrested parties were involved in smuggling drugs originating from South America and the Middle East into both Kosovo and various European Union countries. The investigation into the alleged criminal enterprise was initiated after the decoding of messages recovered from the Sky ECC application.

Details regarding the investigation were secured by Radio Free Europe from the Prosecutor’s Office. In the early hours of Tuesday morning, law enforcement executed a coordinated action across five different cities within Kosovo. The operation involved the Kosovo Police working in conjunction with the Special Prosecutor’s Office of Kosovo and collaborating European police authorities.

The arrests followed the sustained pursuit of a group suspected of engaging in both drug trafficking and money laundering activities. The operation, which has been internally dubbed “White Star,” relied heavily on digital evidence derived from the intercepted communications. Officials stated that the evidence gathered was crucial in establishing the scope of the alleged network.

The involvement of the prosecutor’s office underscores the international nature of the charges against the suspected individuals. The coordinated efforts across multiple agencies highlight a significant effort by Kosovo authorities to combat transnational organized crime.
