Spanish Paratroopers Cause Damage to Armored Vehicle During Exercise
A heavily armored vehicle, valued at approximately 600,000 euros, was severely damaged during a military exercise involving the Spanish paratrooper brigade. The incident occurred during an air drop training operation designed to test parachute delivery techniques. The event involved the transportation of a URO VAMTAC type vehicle by aircraft, utilizing a parachute system for the landing phase.
A malfunction within the vehicle’s load rigging system led to a sudden detachment from its safety line. According to reports, the spanish forces were conducting an air drop when the vehicle unexpectedly separated from the aircraft. Falling from a height of approximately 300 meters, the vehicle impacted the ground with significant force.
The resulting impact caused extensive structural damage, rendering the vehicle almost entirely unusable and likely irreparable. The elite paratrooper brigade was involved in the operation at the time of the incident. Investigations are underway to determine the precise cause of the rigging failure and assess the full extent of the damage.
