Speed trap in Gjakova, Police stop two vehicles and issue fines

The Kosovo Police intervened on two separate occasions in the city of Gjakova to halt instances of speed racing, thereby preventing potential dangers to both traffic participants and the general public. A statement issued by the Regional Directorate of Police in Gjakova detailed the first incident, where police observed two motorcycles engaged in a speed race on “Martirët Qerkezi” street. In a second separate case, officers encountered two vehicles participating in similar racing activities on “Gaspër Karaqi” street.

In both reported incidents, the prompt action taken by patrolling units and the Regional Road Traffic Unit successfully brought the activities to a stop. Following the cessation of the racing, fines were issued to the individuals involved, in adherence to current traffic legislation. The police issued a reminder emphasizing that engaging in speed racing and exhibiting irresponsible behavior while operating vehicles on public roads are violations of safety regulations.

Such actions significantly compromise road safety and pose risks to the community. The intervention underscores the police’ commitment to maintaining order and ensuring safe traffic conditions within Gjakova.
