Strakosha and Pilios with AEK in the Champions League

AEK Athens has qualified for the Champions League group stage after defeating Levski Sofia with a score of 4-0 in the play-off second leg. The initial match held in Bulgaria had concluded without any goals. The Greek side’s victory was bolstered by the participation of two Albanian national team players, Thomas Strakosha and Stavros Pilios, who started and played the entirety of the match.

AEK appeared to resolve their qualification concerns early in the first half, netting three goals before scoring a further goal in the second half to secure the decisive 4-0 victory. For Strakosha, this achievement represents another notable success in AEK’s progression through European competition. The Albanian goalkeeper is considered a key player for the Athens club, and Pilios also contributed significantly to the team’s performance.
