High Court Orders 30-Day Detention of Vehid Muriqi in Podgorica Murder Case

The High Court in Podgorica has issued a 30-day preventative detention order for Vehid Muriqi, a suspect in connection with multiple murders in the “Stari Aerodrom” neighborhood. The decision was based on concerns regarding Muriqi’s potential to flee and his possible influence on witnesses. Muriqi is currently implicated in the deaths of three individuals in Podgorica on Monday.

Following the incident, he traveled to Rožaj and informed his mother of his involvement. This sequence of events, from the initial mother’s report to his subsequent arrest, has been the focus of police investigation. According to police reports, Muriqi engaged in a confrontation with the victims – brothers Denis Hot (28) and Nezrin Hot (27) of Rožaj, and Kenan Miraljević, a Serbian national – utilizing a cold weapon.

The investigation indicates a conflict preceded the deaths. The preventative detention order, lasting 30 days, is intended to ensure Muriqi’s presence during the ongoing legal proceedings. Authorities cited the risk of flight and potential interference with the investigation as justification for this measure.

The court’s decision underscores the seriousness of the charges and the ongoing efforts to bring those responsible to justice.
