Immigrant Population in EU Reaches Record 64.2 Million
A new report indicates a significant rise in the number of immigrants residing within the European Union. According to the Center for Research and Migration Analysis, the total population of immigrants reached 64.2 million in 2025, representing an increase of approximately 2.1 million compared to 2024. This marks a record high for the EU.
The report, utilizing data from Eurostat and the United Nations Refugee Agency, highlights a substantial increase over the past decade. In 2010, the immigrant population stood at 40 million. Germany continues to be the largest EU member state in terms of foreign-born residents, with nearly 18 million individuals.
Notably, 72 percent of these residents are within the working age demographic. Spain has experienced the most recent growth, adding approximately 700,000 people, bringing the total number of foreign-born residents to 9.5 million.
