Sveçla reacts to the arrests for the Reçak massacre: No compromise with war crimes

The Minister of Interior, Xhelal Sveçla, issued a statement following a joint operation conducted by Kosovo’s security and justice institutions. The operation resulted in the apprehension of five suspects linked to the massacre that occurred in Reçak, alongside one additional individual suspected of involvement in the killing of civilians in Ponesh. In a public address via Facebook, Sveçla affirmed the commitment of Kosovo authorities to prosecute instances of alleged war crimes.

He stated that investigations into actions attributed to Serbian police, military, and paramilitary forces are proceeding with heightened intensity. The Minister emphasized that the government will maintain zero compromise regarding any crimes committed against the civilian population of Kosovo. Sveçla offered commendation to the Kosovo Police, the Special Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kosovo, and the Kosovo Intelligence Agency for their successful execution of the operation and the subsequent arrests.

Furthermore, the Minister reiterated the assertion that Serbia was responsible for genocide in Kosovo, promising accountability for all parties involved in the planning of such acts. The statement underscores the ongoing judicial focus on investigating and prosecuting these alleged atrocities.
