Temperatures at 35 degrees, Ministry reminds: Circulation in the vehicle autostrade is stopped for vehicles weighing over 20 tons

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has announced a temporary suspension of goods transport for heavy vehicles on major highways. This measure is a direct response to high temperatures, specifically when the Kosovo Meteorological Institute (IMK) forecasts reach 32°C or higher. The suspension will be enforced daily between 11:00 and 17:30.

According to the directive issued by the ministry, the restriction applies to goods transport vehicles with a total mass exceeding 20 tons. Exemption from this ban is granted only to vehicles belonging to public security agencies, emergency services, and health institutions. Authorities have issued a call for transporters and logistics operators to adhere strictly to this regulation and to plan their movements around the specified timeframe.

Outside of the restricted hours, circulation remains permitted on national, regional, and connecting roads, as the necessary temperature conditions have not been met for those categories. This announcement aims to manage traffic flow and ensure safety during periods of extreme heat. Transporters are advised to monitor the IMK forecasts closely to understand when the restrictions are in effect, ensuring compliance with the ministry’s guidelines to maintain operational continuity.
