The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade, and Innovation (MINTI) reported that the verification process for consumer electric meters, concerning those that have lodged complaints with relevant authorities, continued throughout May. Data released by the Kosovo Metrology Agency indicated that inspections of the verified meters uncovered several irregularities. The ministry stated that the verifications revealed specific issues across the inspected units.
Specifically, the findings included 18 meters with expired validity dates, 2 meters that had withdrawn type approvals, and 30 meters exhibiting inaccuracies in their date and time settings. In adherence to the Law on Metrology, these findings prompted action from the Central Trade Inspectorate. Consequently, KEDS was fined an amount of 110 million for the identified irregularities among the meters.
The ministry’s oversight role underscores the commitment to ensuring the accuracy and compliance of measurement equipment used by consumers. These actions aim to maintain the integrity of the electrical metering system within the jurisdiction.
