Concerns have been raised regarding the obstruction of pedestrian pathways in Tetovë, primarily due to the encroachment of commercial establishments onto public thoroughfares. Numerous reports indicate that tables, chairs, storage materials, and goods belonging to local businesses and cafes are occupying significant portions of the sidewalks. This occupation severely impedes the free movement of citizens traversing the city center.
The difficulty in navigation is particularly acute for vulnerable populations, including individuals with disabilities and parents utilizing strollers. Complaints have been lodged not only against commercial enterprises but also against vehicles that are parked improperly on the pedestrian walkways. A specific area identified as problematic spans from the roundabout near the Ëmbëltorja Taksi location to the Pasha Mosque, where nearly every establishment has reportedly utilized some portion of the sidewalk space.
In response to the growing public concern, the Municipality of Tetovë has acknowledged the situation. Authorities have announced plans to intensify inspection efforts across the affected zones, commencing this coming Monday. Furthermore, the municipality plans to launch awareness campaigns aimed at educating both commercial operators and the public regarding appropriate use of public space.
