The EU again calls for the suspension of dredging near Lake Ujmani

The European Union has once again called for a halt to construction activities taking place near Ujman Lake. Kosovar authorities have stated that the structures in question were erected without the requisite permits. European officials reiterated their concerns regarding these ongoing developments and urged Kosovo’s institutions to suspend all construction work until the competent courts issue a final ruling.

The EU expressed regret over the demolition of residences, particularly noting that property claims in the area remain subject to judicial review. Consequently, the Union called upon Kosovo’s institutions to cease any further demolition activities. Furthermore, the EU advised that Kosovo should collaborate with the affected residents and local authorities to establish a legally sound resolution.

The repeated calls emphasize the need for adherence to established legal procedures concerning the development near the lake. This diplomatic intervention underscores the EU’s ongoing concern regarding the legality and management of construction projects situated near Ujman Lake.
