The government has abandoned pensioners in Kosovo.

The Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms Council (HRFJC) has voiced serious concerns regarding the Kosovo Government’s actions. The council firmly condemns what it perceives as a lack of attention to vulnerable groups within the nation. In a recent declaration, the HRFJC evaluates the executive’s allocation of funds as inequitable.

They assert that pensioners, individuals receiving social assistance, war veterans, and disabled soldiers are experiencing considerable hardship in meeting their basic needs. The organization highlights the alarming disconnect between escalating prices and the financial resources available to most Kosovo families. The rising cost of living is dramatically outpacing the ability of many households to afford essential goods and services.

Specifically, the HRFJC points out that pension increases have lagged significantly behind inflation. Over the last six years, pension payments have risen by only 20 percent, representing roughly 3.25 percent annually. This slow growth fails to adequately address the challenges faced by pensioners.

The HRFJC continues to criticize the government’s handling of economic matters and its impact on the most vulnerable citizens. The council emphasizes the urgent need for a more responsive and equitable approach to support those reliant on state assistance.
