The importance of bone and joint care is discussed by orthopedic specialist Qerim Kida in the podcast “Health in Order”.

In the latest installment of the “Health First” podcast, presented with support from United Hospital, orthopedic surgeon Qerim Kida addressed the critical need for bone and joint care. He voiced worries regarding the impact of contemporary lifestyles on musculoskeletal health. A central point of his discussion revolved around the growing influence of excessive cell phone usage.

Kida asserted that prolonged engagement with mobile devices is a primary driver of orthopedic issues. He specifically noted the common symptoms associated with this habit: “Prolonged cell phone use manifests with neck pain, dizziness, and balance disturbances.”

Kida explained that maintaining an improper body posture while using a cell phone dramatically increases the strain on the spine. He clarified that the typical weight of the neck is around 4-5 kilograms.

However, when individuals hunch over, this weight can escalate to 20-30 kilograms. Furthermore, orthopedic surgeon Qerim Kida underscored the significance of inactivity and a sedentary lifestyle as substantial contributors to these problems. He stressed the importance of proactive care for bone and joint health, particularly in light of modern habits.
