The Municipality of Peja has formalized an international partnership with the Italian entity Fili Meridiani APS. This collaboration is strategically focused on enhancing cooperation across several key sectors, including culture, tourism, and heritage preservation. The primary objective of the partnership is to strengthen institutional ties and facilitate cultural and tourist exchanges between Peja and the Albanian communities residing in Italy.
By establishing these channels, the agreement aims to cultivate opportunities for developing joint initiatives that benefit both regions. This cooperative framework emerged following a dialogue that commenced in 2025. The initial discussions were sparked when Blerta Harxhi-Begolli, an expert specializing in local development, international cooperation, and cultural diplomacy from the Municipality of Peja, attended the Arbëria Digital Festival in Pallagorio.
The subsequent institutional meeting, held within the Municipality of Peja, was attended by the Councilor for Culture, Xhenet Syka, among other representatives. The formalized partnership underscores a mutual commitment to promoting shared identity and cross-border understanding. By linking Peja’s rich cultural landscape with Italian expertise, the collaboration seeks to build sustainable pathways for mutual growth.
The focus on cultural exchange is expected to revitalize historical sites, support local economies through responsible tourism, and deepen the connection between the Albanian diaspora and their ancestral homeland through shared cultural endeavors.
