A traffic accident occurred today in the village of Shushicë, located in the Istog region, resulting in two fatalities and leaving four individuals injured. Local medical services responded to the scene of the accident, coordinating care for the casualties. According to reports from the General Hospital in Peja, emergency services received a patient suffering from polytrauma around 4:00 PM.
Despite immediate and advanced procedures performed by medical staff, the patient was pronounced deceased. Separately, another individual was reported deceased at the accident site. Later, around 4:30 PM, the remaining four people who were injured in the incident were transported to the hospital facility in Peja for treatment.
Medical attention was immediately mobilized for the victims. One critically injured child, who also presented with polytrauma, was transferred to the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (QKUK). Upon arrival, the child was intubated and placed under the continuous care of the Anesthesiology team.
The incident has prompted a significant response from local healthcare providers who managed the influx of casualties. The severity of the accident necessitated the involvement of multiple specialized medical units to stabilize the injured and manage the critical care needs of the survivors. Authorities continue to manage the aftermath of the collision in the area.
