During the presentation of the Democratic League of Kosovo’s government program, Prime Minister candidate Lumir Abdixhiku outlined several key economic pledges, centering heavily on social security improvements. A central component of his platform involves a commitment to significantly raising the national pension structure. Specifically, Abdixhiku announced a policy aimed at doubling current pension levels, while also guaranteeing that no individual pension payout would fall below a minimum threshold of 300 euros.
Speaking on the matter, Abdixhiku stated, “Doubling pensions; no pension below 300 euros. Because a serious Republic does not leave anyone behind.”
Beyond the immediate financial increases, Abdixhiku addressed the nature of these proposed benefits, emphasizing that the additions and advantages were intended to be systemic reforms rather than temporary campaign incentives. He asserted that the LDK’s commitment was to institutionalize these improvements.
According to Abdixhiku, these enhanced benefits would not remain discretionary or subject to political whim. “Additions, benefits, advantages, will not be electoral handouts. No, they will not be stopped.
They will be given, they will be increased. And they will be guaranteed by law,” he stressed. He further elaborated that these provisions would function as permanent legal guarantees, ensuring that the enhanced pension levels and associated benefits are secured for the populace irrespective of future political cycles.
