The rehabilitation of the Prekoc – Marec – Krilevë road is accompanied by measures to protect the Marec river

The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Dimal Basha, and the Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning, and Infrastructure, Fitore Pacolli, conducted an inspection of the ongoing rehabilitation works on the regional road connecting Prekoc, Marec, and Krilevë (R123a). This significant development project covers a 16-kilometer stretch and carries an estimated value of 3.1 million euros. The primary objectives of the undertaking are to enhance local road infrastructure and substantially improve circulation safety for the residents traversing the area.

During the site visit, ministerial representatives highlighted the critical importance of inter-ministerial collaboration. A key focus of the partnership between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Environment was the need to harmonize the physical rehabilitation of the road with necessary ecological measures. Specifically, efforts are being integrated to ensure the protection and proper treatment of the Marec river along this vital segment.

This joint strategy underscores a commitment to holistic development, recognizing that transportation improvements must coexist with environmental stewardship. Officials noted that this integrated approach is designed to contribute directly to enhanced flood prevention capabilities and the sustained protection of the water body itself. The combined focus on improving the road’s structural integrity while safeguarding the natural resources surrounding the Marec river ensures that the upgraded infrastructure serves both transport needs and ecological preservation goals for the community.
