The retrial proceedings concerning the murder of an Argentine national were interrupted on Monday at the Basic Court in Pristina. The delay occurred after the accused, Endrit Nika, formally requested the assignment of a different interpreter. The proceedings commenced with the prosecutor, Armend Hamiti, who delivered an opening statement.
Hamiti asserted that based on the evidence presented during the initial indictment and those gathered throughout the judicial hearing, the guilt of the accused would be established. Meanwhile, the legal representative for the victim, lawyer Betim Shala, confirmed the participation of the injured party in the criminal proceedings and announced their intention to submit accompanying civil-legal claims. In addressing the defense, lawyer Tomë Gashi stated that specific measures were necessary for the proceedings to continue.
The request for a new interpreter by nika effectively halted the proceedings at this stage. The court’s ability to move forward with the case, which involves charges related to the death of the Argentine national, remains contingent upon the resolution of the interpreter requirement.
