The Albanian Ministry of Defence has provided an update regarding the ongoing fire incidents across the country. According to reports issued on August 20, 2026, a total of 35 fire hotspots have been reported over the preceding 24 hours. Of these incidents, the Ministry confirmed that five hotspots remain currently active, while three have been brought under control.
The current operational situation indicates that the active hotspots are geographically spread across several regions. Specific locations identified as having active incidents include Dajti in Tirana, Lufaj in Mirdita, Tërbun-Gjegjan-Gojë in Pukë, Gjorm i Sipërm in Malësi e Madhe, and Tunjë e Re in Gramsh. Authorities managing the response detailed specific actions taken in Pukë, where one family was evacuated during operations.
Officials noted that the intervention of emergency forces successfully prevented the fire from spreading toward nearby residential zones. Furthermore, regarding the active sites, authorities stated that in areas like Dajti, there is currently no reported risk to inhabited zones. In other areas, updates confirm that the hotspot in Gurë-Lurë has been brought under control following the successful extinguishment of the blaze.
Interventions remain ongoing in the area of Qafë Helmes. The Ministry emphasized that resources are being deployed to manage the overall situation, ensuring continuous monitoring and containment efforts across all reported hotspots.
