The traditional “KAH DRITA” Festival

The third edition of the KAH DRITA festival is scheduled to take place in Junik, presenting an event designed to merge local cultural heritage, natural landscapes, artistic expression, and educational components. Organized by CHwB Kosovo, this year’s festival centers on the tradition of transhumance—the seasonal migration of shepherds to high mountain pastures—a practice deeply embedded within the cultural identity of Kosovo. The primary objective of the festival is to foster a connection between the public and the rich heritage of the Junik region.

By structuring an authentic experience, the event aims to link the community, its natural environment, and its enduring culture. The program is multifaceted, featuring a variety of activities designed for broad engagement. Attendees can look forward to viewing documentary films, enjoying live musical performances, participating in specialized workshops, and undertaking guided hikes to the pastures.

Furthermore, the festival offers educational insights into the traditional way of life maintained within the mountain huts. The KAH DRITA festival serves as a significant cultural gathering, celebrating the continuity of pastoral traditions. These combined elements ensure that the event provides a comprehensive overview of the area’s historical and living culture.

Logistical details for the event are as follows: The festival will take place on April 4 and April 7, 2026. The daily schedule is set from 10:00 to 15:30, with all activities taking place in the Junik area.
