The water trough in the Zoological Garden in Skopje is requested to be closed and inspected.

The Animal Protection Society Anima Mundi has issued a formal demand for the immediate closure of the Skopje Zoological Garden. Furthermore, the organization is calling for an independent inspection of all facilities within the zoological garden, including habitats, enclosures, cages, and safety systems, with all findings to be made public. This urgent appeal follows media reports detailing multiple animal escapes from the facility.

These escapes have reportedly resulted in the drowning of four kangaroos and several birds. Activists are demanding a comprehensive, independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding these animal escapes and the subsequent fatalities. The group is specifically calling for the determination of accountability for all animal releases and the systemic failures that led to the incidents.

Additionally, they are insisting on the implementation of a moratorium on the breeding and introduction of new animals until the zoological garden can demonstrate that all operational conditions meet established safety and welfare standards. Beyond these immediate concerns, Anima Mundi has reiterated its demand for the permanent closure of the Skopje Zoological Garden. The organization suggests that the site should be repurposed and converted into an alternative type of center.

These demands reflect a growing concern among animal welfare advocates regarding the current management and safety protocols at the Skopje facility.
