There is no movement for a price reduction of oil.

There are no plans to decrease fuel prices. News from Gazeta Express 27/03/2026 7:34. Despite rising fuel derivative costs in Kosovo approaching historic highs, no steps are anticipated to lessen taxes for fuel manufacturers.

Minister Mimoza Kusari-Lila communicated to RTK that they presently do not intend to move forward in parliament to revise existing legislation concerning VAT or excise duty reductions, as recently adopted across the area. This decision stems, according to her, from the potential harm to the state budget. Lowering excise taxes would result in a financial loss of 20 million euros.

“Once, not because the price trend has been downward. If an excise tax of 20 cents is reduced, the loss for the state budget would be 20 million euros,” stated Mimoza Kusari-Lila, Minister of Industry. The minister emphasized that this situation is contingent on fuel prices continuing to remain elevated.

The government’s focus remains on managing the current situation and mitigating the impact of high fuel costs.
