Trump meets with Macron and Middle Eastern leaders at the G7 summit

Donald Trump is scheduled to participate in several high-level engagements during the G7 summit taking place in Evian, France, from Monday through Wednesday. On Tuesday, Trump is set to attend the G7 working meeting in France, where he is also scheduled to meet with Volodymyr Zelensky. The diplomatic itinerary continues on Wednesday with a planned dinner in Versailles.

The French presidency has framed this dinner as an observance of the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, noting that the location holds historical significance as the site where the original treaty sanctioning the relationship was signed in 1783. Upon his arrival, Trump is slated to hold a bilateral meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.

In addition to the meeting with Macron, the American president has scheduled private discussions with leaders from several nations, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and India. The G7 summit proceedings are expected to be highly active, with the possibility of a sideline meeting between Trump and Zelensky on Tuesday. These scheduled meetings underscore the diplomatic focus on strengthening international partnerships during the week’s major economic and political gathering.
