The “Sources of Hope 2026” summer camps have commenced in the Gaza Strip, an initiative supported by Turkey aimed at reaching an estimated 8,000 children. The opening ceremony for these camps took place at the Nuseirat Services Club within the Nuseirat Refugee Camp, located in the central Gaza Strip. The event was organized by the Higher Council for Youth and Sports in Gaza and was overseen by the Council’s Deputy Secretary-General, Abdusselam Heniye.
During the opening, children gathered for the proceedings, which featured a banner displaying a photograph of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan alongside the flags of Turkey and Palestine. The program was designed to engage children of various age groups through a diverse range of activities. Performances included religious recitations, traditional Palestinian folk dances, karate demonstrations, and various art displays.
These efforts underscore an attempt to provide structured activities and a sense of normalcy amidst challenging circumstances. The establishment of these camps is presented as a source of hope for the participating youth. Through these organized cultural and educational events, the initiative seeks to support the development and well-being of the local child population with international backing from Turkey.
