The incident occurred on the final day of March. Serbian military operations involved the deployment of two tanks on a hillside, four tanks within the village, and a further tank positioned below, where civilians were also present. Villagers desperately sought refuge in a nearby field.

Around 3 pm, they were compelled to surrender, displaying a white cloth to signal their capitulation to the encircling soldiers. The Serbian forces then separated the men from women and children.
